About the Company

At Bloomfield, we are revolutionizing the way crops are monitored and managed. Our AI-powered imaging technology provides continuous, plant-level health and performance insights from seed to harvest. Our mission is to empower farmers with the tools they need to increase crop productivity and quality while using fewer scarce resources, ultimately contributing to a more sustainable and food-secure future.

In 2024, Kubota Corporation, a global leader in agricultural machinery and solutions, through its North American subsidiary, Kubota North America Corporation, acquired Bloomfield. This acquisition unites Bloomfield’s innovative technology with Kubota’s extensive resources and commitment to provide comprehensive smart agriculture solutions to farmers worldwide. Our combined expertise and resources will drive innovation and deliver benefits to farmers, ensuring a more sustainable and prosperous agricultural industry.

Join us on our journey to transform agriculture and create essential solutions to empower farmers for generations to come.

About the Role

Bloomfield is looking for a motivated and creative UI/UX Design Intern to join our team. This is a great opportunity for students who want to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced startup environment and contribute meaningfully to real products. As a design intern, you’ll collaborate with designers, engineers, and product managers to help shape the user experience of our digital tools and hardware interfaces.

You’ll participate in the entire design process—from research and ideation to prototyping and testing—while learning how design decisions are made in a real-world setting. We see internships as two-way learning opportunities: you’ll gain practical experience, and we’ll get to know you as a potential future teammate.

This is a full-time, hybrid position in our Lawrenceville, PA office. This is a paid internship offering $20 per hour.

Responsibilities

As a UI/UX Intern, you’ll work closely with our design and product team to:

  • Help maintain and evolve our internal design kit, ensuring consistency across components and patterns
  • Support user research activities including persona development, task analysis, and journey mapping
  • Assist in creating wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes that bring ideas to life
  • Collaborate in the development of UI designs that align with our design standards and usability best practices
  • Document findings from user tests and research to inform product decisions
  • Contribute to design discussions and help refine Bloomfield’s overall user experience

You’ll be guided by senior designers and UX architects, with regular feedback and mentorship to support your growth throughout the internship

What We're Looking For

We’re seeking students who are passionate about creating intuitive and impactful user experiences. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Product Design (Digital), Visual Communication Design, or a related field
  • An eagerness to ask questions, challenge assumptions, and advocate for the user
  • Comfortable balancing user needs with business and technical constraints
  • Can clearly present design ideas, research findings, and reasoning behind decisions
  • Comfortable sketching ideas quickly, testing assumptions, and pivoting based on feedback
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with an eagerness to learn and contribute

Nice to Have (but not required):

These are helpful, but not must-haves — if you’re excited about learning and growing, we’d still love to hear from you!

  • Interest in design systems or maintaining consistent visual styles
  • Exposure to usability testing or user feedback (even informally)
  • Basic understanding of HTML/CSS or how designs are built
  • Familiarity with Figma
  • Awareness of accessibility best practices (like color contrast, text size, etc.)
  • Curious about how design connects with product, engineering, or business goals

What You’ll Gain

  • A collaborative, supportive environment with mentorship from experienced professionals
  • Opportunities to work on real-world design challenges that make a meaningful impact
  • Exposure to the full product development lifecycle—from research to launch
